the slight chill in the evening air
a crispness in the sound of the breeze through the leaves
shorter days

moving forward

than we imagined

we've begun our re-entry into the daily-life routine
that has always felt so comfortable
and now
so lonely

reid starts back at school today
and i've got a dog to walk
and laundry to wash
and emails to send
calls to return
busy busy busy for sure
but all a little empty too
...

oh Sarah! I've been thinking about you and Reid and Henry and wondering how it is that one looks forward after what you've been through. I'm glad to see that you began your reentry in Little Compton, a place without expectations or demands, but with lots of fields and beaches and open vistas for remembering and wondering.
