home for the holidays
... a snap a day, through the season, of a festive corner of our home...
one of my MOST favorite
family traditions
is that every year on christmas eve
while eating fondue by the fire
we open one gift.
an ornament
that has to do with something we have done that year...
this was from the year i learned to surf.
(and no, i couldn't hang ten that first year. i still can't... someday?)

home for the holidays
... a snap a day, throughout the season, of a festive corner of our home...
(i know, i owe a couple pictures... more to come today!)
let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
is there anything better than a white christmas?!
i really don't think so...
and here in new england, it looks like we will have just that!
the first true blanketing of the season is here
inspiring me to pull on the chunky knits
and cuddle up in bed
while visions of sugarplums

nellie's favorite treats
my mom always jokes that nellie has more friends than most humans.
it's true... she is one social dog!
she wanted to do something special for all her besties
so this weekend we baked up a batch of treats made from all her favorite things...
organic peanut butter, apples, carrots and cranberries are added to the mix
(nellie begs to lick the bowl, just like a kid!)
(nellie begs to lick the bowl, just like a kid!)
i picked up these martha stewart gift boxes on sale at jo-ann's
and they are the perfect size for a dozen or so treats
martha makes it so easy- labels, ribbon and parchment squares included!

boxed and ready to be delivered!
make up a batch and let me know what your pooch thinks!
holiday greens
while in little compton for my birthday weekend
we stopped into peckham's during their annual holiday party
peckham's green house is always loaded with the most gorgeous plants and garden goods...
during the holiday season it is one of the most inspiring places
bursting with poinsettias
house-made wreaths
festive pots, tree ornaments and paperwhites
i love filling my home with greens and forced bulbs
especially in winter
when the view out your window seems bare, gray and frozen!

home for the holidays
... a snap a day, throughout the season, of a festive corner of our home...
waiting for the mailman's daily visit
to bring a new batch of cards
from family and friends
during the holidays!

wow.
yes, i will be seeing blue valentine. you?
home for the holidays
i am getting so into holiday decorating this year...
SUCH a thrill with our own home to spice up!
i am going to try and post a little snapshot everyday
throughout the season
from a corner of our house...
this is my most favorite holiday decoration
a tiny little carved wood creche
every year when i unwrap it, childhood christmas memories flood right back

girl crush: reese
love. love. love. her
(though, personally, i would have stuck with jake)
and her personal style is SO good-
the chambray, rolled boyfriend jeans, aviators, hats
cowboy boots with skirts, accessories that pop...
nails it every.time.

early december
the beginning of this month
has been an amazing whirlwind
of birthday celebrations
holiday preparations
gatherings with friends
and travel...
my birthday seemed to go on and on this year...
my friends and family have made me feel incredibly loved
and i really don't think i have enjoyed turning another year older since i was twelve!
it all started in little compton...
my parents joined us for a few relaxing nights at my in-law's gorgeous home.
we got right into the spirit by creating swags and wreaths- this has become an annual tradition!
my mom-in-law had all the cuttings ready to go!
i had found a fun wall pocket at christmas tree shop
daddio creating a simple, stunning juniper wreath
my festive creation hangs next to our front door!
what a wonderful way to start the month and get in the holiday spirit...

quick gift guide
we've decided to do a good-old yankee swap this year for family gift giving
(each person brings a $50 gift)
which has been a fun shopping challenge
and should make for an even funnier christmas morning!
i put together this collection
of what i would have, could have gifted to my loved ones...
****
craft books for my sister
the better sweater for daddio
nellie will get her favorite toy
mom loves bling

oh! happy day!
cake
"For her birthday she wanted two things: a raspberry cake and a string of pearls."
ooooh, golly!
"Her vision of heaven involved copious amounts of buttercream frosting."
...
"The other guests had long since left but there they were, slowly savoring another piece of cake until the last crumb was gone."
love love love!
