cozy cowl, complete!

i had finished this luxurious little number
a few weeks back
but hadn't taken the time to weave in the ends
because i really did think it was past the season for wearing.

clearly not...
it is coooold here this weekend
but sunny!

so i'm breaking her out.
and think this cowl will be my early spring staple.
loving the idea of wearing with a chambray work shirt...

this past weekend was a busy one
but at times, it felt thick with despair...
watching news from japan, a dear friend losing her amazing mom, another suffering after a miscarriage...
things that make you question everything
and leave you with nothing.

i suppose this is the human experience.
pain. suffering. adversity.

and then

light
and
hope.

this weekend had that too...

celebrating with my gram-in-law on her 90th! birthday

i awoke to one of those late winter days-
chilly. wet. gray.
the kind of morning that is dark and moody
the kind that makes you want to turn off the alarm
snuggle back under the warmth of the comforter
and fall back asleep.
until may.

but stumbling into the bathroom
with eyes half open
and finding these waiting for me

turned the day

all sunny
just. like. that.

i ran out this morning to run some errands
and returned to these popping up in my backyard
this afternoon!



of course,
the rest of my yard is a hot mess
after a long winter of abuse.
