don't you love how certain foods can bring to back in time...
to a moment
or a place
to childhood in general
to home
?
rice pilaf does it for me.
every.time.
cold, clumpy and straight from the left-over container.
usually shoveled, yes, shoveled while standing.
it brings me back to all those evenings before swim team practice, or just home from.
i can hear my mom telling me to sit.down. and chew!
ooh, so good.
and then
there are the unexpected...
welch's white grape juice.
i found a bottle in my in-law's fridge a few months ago
and couldn't resist.
oh, i literally felt like a kid in a candy store!
so random, but so good.
right back to after-church coffe hour-
the only place we ever got non-watered-down juice.
100% sweet goodness.
what foods bring you back?

There is nothing, NOTHING like Near East Rice Pilaf. I can't see a box without thinking, "Dad." I eat mine standing up and shoveling, too. Mom's pasta & peas has a special place in my heart, too.
