in full bloom

my mother-in-law and i had a lovely little girl's lunch date on thursday... i met her in little compton at sakonnet vinyards, the local winery. their cafe had just opened for the season and we enjoyed a fantastic lunch bursting with the flavors of fresh, local foods, overlooking the grape vines.

the highlight of the day, though, was our visit to the little compton peony farm. i have been dreaming of this place for years now, but because the peony season is so short, they are only open for a few short weeks a year. i checked early this spring and we had it on the calender, so to be sure not to miss all the peonies in full glory... and they were magnificent!
